The Old Schoolhouse Vineyard Cottage

We are very proud of our Schoolhouse accommodation that was moved onto the vineyard and lovingly restored in 1999. It is nestled in a picturesque setting amongst rows of grapevines and it is only a 200m stroll though the vineyard to Kina Beach.

Its former existence as an old New Zealand schoolhouse is still recognisable from the outside. A lot of effort has been put in to ensure that the interior is light and airy but still offering the charm of yesteryear. You will even find the old school bell hung on one side of the door!

This wonderful romantic retreat has a fully equipped kitchen and breakfast provisions are supplied for your arrival. There is a delightful double bedroom with views across the vines, whilst the large open plan living area features the original windows, polished native timber wooden floors and tongue and groove walls and ceilings. A deck wraps around the front of the cottage where you can enjoy relaxing evenings watching the sun set over the Tasman Bay and Moutere Estuary before cooking the best of the local meat or fish on the barbecue. A path leads through the vineyard and down the road to Kina Beach.

Other attractions close by include The Abel Tasman National Park which is only half an hour’s drive north and the town of Nelson about half and hours drive south. There is also a 9 hole golf course nearby. We can recommend local art, markets, places to eat and anything else you may want to do. The nearest town is Motueka which is only a 10 minute drive away.

There is a separate bedroom with Queen sized bed, cotton bed linen, electric blanket and down duvet. In the main living area, there is a fully equipped kitchen, including dishwasher, microwave, fridge/freezer, and full sized cooker. Complimentary breakfast provisions included in the tariff. Real Coffee!! The dining / lounge area has a logfire, stereo, and optional TV. In the sunroom, there is a day bed, that converts to a single divan. Through the double doors onto a large deck with BBQ and outdoor furniture. Local wines available from your own mini wine cellar.
